Helping children feel seen.
Helping families feel supported.
Helping everyday life feel a little easier.
At Colour Outside the Lines OT, we believe every child deserves to be understood before they are supported.
Discover Our ApproachBecause when children are understood, they flourish.
Every child experiences the world in their own unique way. They have their own strengths, interests, personality, ways of learning, and dreams for the future. They are so much more than a diagnosis, developmental milestone, or assessment score.
Our role isn't to change who children are. Our role is to understand who they are, celebrate their strengths, reduce barriers to participation, and help them develop the confidence, skills, and independence to thrive in everyday life.
Support that reaches into everyday life
Colour Outside the Lines OT provides individualized, evidence-informed occupational therapy services for children, adolescents, and their families.
Motor Development
Fine and gross motor development, handwriting, visual-motor skills, coordination, and confidence in movement.
Regulation & Sensory Processing
Sensory processing, self-regulation, emotional regulation, and practical strategies that fit real routines.
Daily Life & Participation
Self-care, school participation, play, executive functioning, social participation, independence, and wellbeing.
Occupational therapy is ultimately about helping children participate more confidently and independently in the activities that matter most—at home, at school, in the community, and within family life.
Meaningful learning. Natural environments. Real-life carryover.
Children learn best through meaningful experiences with the people who know and love them.
A consultative, family-centred approach
Research in occupational therapy, developmental science, and early childhood intervention consistently demonstrates that children are more likely to learn, generalize, and maintain new skills when they are practised within natural environments and everyday routines.
Rather than focusing only on what happens during an appointment, we partner with families to build confidence, develop practical strategies, and create opportunities for learning that naturally fit into everyday life.
- Strengths-Based — Building on abilities, interests, and natural motivations.
- Neuro-Affirming — Respecting different ways of thinking, learning, communicating, and experiencing the world.
- Evidence-Informed — Guided by current research, best practice, and clinical expertise.
- Family-Centred — Valuing parents and caregivers as partners.
- Individualized — Tailoring recommendations to each child's goals, routines, and environments.
Care that respects each child and family’s context.
Culture is part of everyday occupation, identity, relationships, routines, expectations, and what participation means to a family.
Culturally Responsive & Humble Care
Every child and family brings their own culture, identities, values, languages, traditions, relationships, routines, beliefs, and experiences. We approach these differences with curiosity, respect, and cultural humility rather than assumptions.
Assessment, goal-setting, and recommendations consider what is meaningful and appropriate within the child and family’s cultural and everyday context. Families are invited to tell us what matters to them, how they understand their child’s strengths and needs, and whether recommendations fit their values, routines, resources, and priorities.
When cultural, language, systemic, financial, geographic, or other barriers affect participation or access to care, we work collaboratively to identify practical adaptations and equitable options within the scope of occupational therapy.
Therapy should never be one-size-fits-all.
Our consultative model begins with a comprehensive assessment to understand the whole child—not just their challenges.

More than therapy. A relationship built on understanding.
Families are looking for someone who takes the time to truly know their child. Someone who listens before making recommendations. Someone who understands that meaningful change happens within everyday life—not just during appointments.
Lisa brings more than 25 years of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist, together with the lived experience of raising four neurodivergent children. This perspective combines professional expertise with a deep appreciation of the realities families navigate every day.
Every recommendation is grounded in evidence, guided by experience, and tailored to your family's unique journey.

Occupational therapy services are provided in accordance with applicable Ontario legislation and the professional standards of the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO).
Consent & Choice
Before services begin, we explain the proposed assessment or intervention, expected benefits, material risks or limitations, reasonable alternatives, fees, and how information may be collected, used, or shared. Consent is an ongoing process and may be changed or withdrawn. A child’s communication, assent, discomfort, and preferences are considered throughout care.
Privacy & Records
Personal and personal health information is collected only as needed for service and is handled in accordance with applicable privacy law. Clinical and financial records are maintained securely. Information is shared with schools, professionals, or other third parties only with appropriate authority or consent, except where disclosure is permitted or required by law.
Fees & Service Decisions
Fees, cancellation terms, travel charges, report or consultation fees, and other applicable costs are communicated before the related service is provided. Recommendations and service frequency are based on clinical reasoning, identified goals, family priorities, safety, response to intervention, and ongoing review—not on a predetermined treatment schedule.
Assessment and intervention
Requests for service are screened to determine whether occupational therapy is appropriate and within the scope of the service offered. Assessment is purposeful and connected to the child’s occupational performance and participation. Findings, recommendations, goals, options, and anticipated next steps are communicated in understandable language and revisited as circumstances change.
Collaboration and information sharing
Parents and caregivers are valued partners. Children are included in decisions in ways appropriate to their abilities and communication. Collaboration with educators and other professionals occurs when clinically appropriate and with the necessary consent. We aim to collect and share only the information needed for the intended purpose.
General website information and downloadable resources are educational in nature. They do not replace an individualized occupational therapy assessment, diagnosis, or treatment plan.
Helping children participate with greater confidence, autonomy, and joy.
Our goal is not simply to teach skills during therapy sessions. It is to help children use meaningful skills, supports, and strategies where they matter most—in everyday life.
Because the greatest measure of success isn't what happens during therapy—it's what becomes possible long after the appointment has ended.
